We're down to the last border!
Border 6 is probaby going to be the most labor-intensive because we're using a whole lot of the Template 2 and 3 shapes. In fact, after evaluating how long this border is going to take, I've decided to add a week to the quilt-along and do Border 6 over 3 weeks instead of 2. (Check here for the revised schedule.)
This week, we're going to concentrate on sewing the Template 2 pieces of white/contrasting fabric to both sides of the Template 3 pieces of the colorful fabrics as described in Step 1 on Page 15 of the pdf pattern (Page 24 of the printed pattern) to make the butterfly "wings."
These pieces can be sewn using the same tricks and techniques that we used for the Center Block. In particular, you can use a pin to match the marked points.
Once each wing unit is pieced, square it up to 2-1/4" x 4-1/2", trimming away the points.
Repeat 144 times. It's a lot of pieces, which is why we're taking an extra week with this border.
