I'm not a purple person, but I've been intrigued by the way Pantone has combined its 2014 Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, with brighter pink and berry hues.
The 24" heart block that I used in this quilt is the result of my desire to use the Color of the Year and to revisit the piecing design I used on the back of my Neon Honey Quilt
Huge thanks to Allie Heath for naming this block Love Triangle. I think it's a perfect name!
I love that this block plays with a fun heart shape that's graphic, rather than sweet.
The center of each block is made with triangles that are the same size and shape. It's the difference in value among the fabrics that creates the heart shape.
A pdf pattern for the Love Triangle block will be available in my shop tomorrow (February 12).
The Kona solids I used are: Valentine, Cerise, Berry, Dark Violet, Violet, Pansy, Petunia, and Thistle. The background is In The Beginning Modern Solids in White and Lead.
I kept it simple on the back of this quilt, using a print from Violet Craft's Waterfront Park collection and leftover pieces of the Kona Solids I used on the front.
