Another item crossed off the WIP list! This is my Icy Improv Pods Quilt. This top and back have been finished for a while, but I just finished the quilt this past weekend. The finished quilt is approximately 38" x 48". That's a pretty small quilt for me!
The piecing on the front is similar to this project from my Craftsy class, and the piece I made for Alissa's Traveling Quilt.
I pieced another pod for the back and surrounded it with more of the white solid before using my deisgn wall to fill in the rest of the space with scraps and odd pieces of the blue-green fabrics.
I finished the quilt during a sewing weekend at Black Butte Ranch, which is where the pretty, snowy setting came from.
The snow was coming down pretty fast, but here's a look at the quilt laying on the ground. I free-motion quilted it using a combination of boxy meandering patterns. There are several columns of quilting like this (but done free-motion) with quilting like this filling in the sides.
Now to move on to the rest of the pile!
