This is part of a year-long series of posts about the quilts from Modern Patchwork. I'm highlighting a different quilt each month, and will be remaking either a regular size or mini quilt version of each of the book quilts. You can find my earlier posts about the Baby Roller Rink quilt here, here, here, and here. The Roller Rink quilt pattern is on Pages 16 - 23 of Modern Patchwork.
I'm so happy with the way this one turned out!
Here's the front of the quilt.
And here's a detail. I love the pops of bright solid amid all those neutrals!
I used the same quilting on this one as I did on the one in the book, but I think it's appropriate for this pattern and I love the way it looks here.
I had been a little worried about how well the stenciled airplane would take the quilting but, despite being noisy (it made a crazy slapping sound as I quilted over it) I didn't have any problems.
Now that it's September, and I'm done with Roller Rink, I'll be moving on to Glam Garlands. I have something kind of crazy planned for that one, which I'll tell you more about later this week.
