As many of you know, I contributed a quilt to the new Robert Kaufman/Stash Books collaboration, We Love Color, which is a collection of patterns for quilts made using only Kona solids. Today is my stop on the book's blog tour!
My quilt for the book is called Ladders. The book shows a photo of the quilt's front, but I thought I would show you the quilt back. (The pattern in the book includes directions for making the two-sided quilt.)
I love the graphic shapes in this quilt and the way the solid fabrics really make the colors pop! While I used sunset-inspired reds and oranges, I think this quilt would also look lovely with a similarly analogous ocean-themed color scheme of blues and blue-greens. The values of the neutral and colorful fabrics could also be reversed, with the ladders made from a darker neutral and the backgrounds pieced from a variety of quieter colors. Lots of options here!
I love working with Kona solids, so I was super-excited about the 28 new colors that just came out. As part of this blog tour, Robert Kaufman has asked us to name our favorite Kona color and to give a shout out to one of the new colors of their choice.
The color I've been asked to mention is Kona Tulip, a lovely purple pictured fifth from the bottom on the right side of the above photo.
Now, my favorite Kona color is much, much more difficult to select. At the moment, I'm also going to go with one of the new colors and say that it's Flame, a vibrant red-orange that you can see eighth from the top on the left side of the above photo.
As part of the blog tour, Robert Kaufman is giving away a bundle of the new Kona colors and a copy of We Love Color to one lucky reader. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment telling me what color you love to work with. I'll leave the comments open through Saturday morning.
In the meantime, your can look here for more information about the blog tour.
