My niece just turned 12. 12! I can't believe it.
For her birthday, I made her a bag and matching quilted cover for her Kindle.
The bag measures about 13" high x 13" wide x 4" deep. The body is made with Essex yarn-dyed cotton/linen in black. The interlining is cotton canvas, which gives the bag shape without making if puffy or crinkly.
You can't really tell from these photos (which I took on my way out the door to go to the party!) but there are two big pockets on one side of the bag. The top of the bag has a facing made from the exterior fabric with a magnetic closure and the strap has a slider so it can be a shoulder or cross-body bag, depending on how it's adjusted.
I love Melody Miller's typewriter print and I pieced a fussy-cut typewriter into one side of the bag. I also used the typewriter print for the lining of the big exterior pockets and a zip pocket that I put on the inside.
The Kindle cover is super-simple. I made it very similarly to the way I made this laptop cover.
The Hope Valley pie basket print that I used on the Kindle cover is also the main lining in the bag.
I couldn't believe that I already had that kelly green hair band in my bag-making supplies box! And, of course, I always love an opportunity to use a vintage button.
I must admit that I now want a bag (and probably a Kindle cover) just like these for myself!
