Do you ever start projects, set them aside, and then completely forget about them? This is the story of a project like that.
While looking at Facebook back on May 4th, I learned that May 4th is apparently some kind of Star Wars appreciation day. May the fourth be with you. Get it? Obviously, that meant that I needed to drop everything and work on a Star Wars themed quilting project.
I considered a few different ideas, but eventually decided that I wanted to work on something inspired by R2D2. R2D2 has lots of fun shapes and a great color scheme.
I started by pulling some fabrics in "R2D2 colors" of white, gray, black, and blue.
Then, I pieced a square patchwork panel using shapes reminiscent of the buttons and controls and so forth on R2's exterior.
I have the pillow front quilted, but I still need to make the back. I've also determined that there should probably be an accompanying C3PO pillow in yellows and golds, so we'll see where that goes.
