This is my Fire Drill quilt. The quilt top is made from pieced diamond blocks and half blocks in lots of firey oranges and softer creams and taupes. Despite the bright colors, particularly of the orange solid fabrics, the prints I used for this quilt are fairly delicate. There are several floral and lacey prints in the mix here.

Owl Eyes applique and patchwork quilt featuring Shades of Grey prints from Daisy Janie organic fabrics.
I thought that the appliqued ovals on this quilt looked like cartoon animal eyes, hence the name Owl Eyes. I realize, however, that the color scheme may make you think more of hard-boiled eggs. Either way, I love the look of all of those ovals stacked together.

Escape Artist quilt.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but Escape Artist may be my favorite quilt from Modern Patchwork. I had been playing with the design idea for a while, thinking about things like screens, fences, and woven construction paper placemats.
Rapid City quilt back. Made with Kona cotton solids and prints by Heather Moore from her Cut Out and Keep collection for Cloud 9 fabrics.
For me, one of the toughest things about writing a quilting book is creating a whole bunch of new quilts without being able to blog about it. Now that almost all of the Modern Patchwork quilts have found their way home, I want to take this week and do some blogging about them!
Thank you so much for sharing what you're thankful for! The winner of the goodie bag is Anne, who is thankful for her parents, her sisters, her sweetheart of a nephew, her best friend, IPAs, and quilting. Congratulations, Anne!
We'll be back to regular programming shortly, but I do have a few more book-related posts planned for next week. I spent a long time today taking pictures, and I'm really excited to show you these quilts that were "secret" for so long!
As some of you know, I spent the last 5 days in Kansas City attending Spring Quilt Market. Quilt Market is a trade show, and I was there to do a presentation for shop owners, aka Schoolhouse, about Modern Patchwork, and to participate, along with fellow contributors Weeks Ringle and Jacquie Gering, in the Schoolhouse for We Love Color . Along the way, I also did a book signing for Modern Patchwork, filmed a brief bit about We Love Color with Kyle from Robert Kaufman, saw some amazing new fabric (Echino Decoro, I'm looking at you!), stayed out much too late, and just generally met a ton of great people.
The winner of a copy of We Love Color is Julie, whose favorite Kona colors are Ash and Tangerine.
Thank you all so much for playing! Things are going to be quiet around the blog this week as I prepare for and go to Spring Market, but I'll have all kinds of fun stuff to talk about when I get back!
