In anticipation of Katie Jean's Sheet Swap, I decided to inspect my current stash of vintage linens. I was thrilled to discover that I still have quite a nice variety. The photo above is of pieces that are either whole pillowcases or larger pieces of sheets.
I also have a nice variety of fat quarters and smaller pieces . . .
. . . as well as a big pile of scraps. I'm going to have to come up with a really great sheet quilt project for the summer.
l have to find a good use for these two pieces. They don't really "go" with the others, but they're both amazing.
It was also great to discover that I have two big sheets that I haven't yet cut into. I think I'll use these for the swap!

I'm all signed up for the swap - can't wait!

Quick question...somewhere I read that quilting with sheets is not good but I can't remember what it was - something about the thread count or the fabric not being strong enough for the amount of stitches? I really can't remember - can you shed some light on this for me as I'd sure love to quilt with some vintage sheets - I just want to do it right!! :-)

Those are lovely...and some of the patterns are very familiar!
The ones that "don't go" - MUST go somewhere, because they are supercutealicious.

Ahhhhh so happy and wonderful! I swear vintage sheets are like a drug for me. I guess there are worse things. That zoo print is *incredible!*

I have a set of sheets still in the packaging from my grandmother. I can't figure out what year they are from. How do I know if they qualify as "vintage"? I also have a groovy flat sheet from the Canon Monticello collection with yellows, golds, browns, and greens. Love it.

I love the animal print with the monkeys and giraffes. This will make a wonderful baby quilt.

Your sheets and pillowcases are very pretty. Are they mostly cotton or a poly/cotton blend?

Almost al of the sheets of this vintage (i.e. all of the good retro/mod floral prints from the 60s, 70s and early 80s)are cotton/poly. Ive found that, if you want 100% cotton, you need to go either much older or much newer.
Personally, I think the cotton/poly is much nicer looking for quilts than all-cotton sheets, most of which get kind of a peachy texture after washing.

I think that zoo print and the one you have photographed with it are my favorites, and I think they go great together! I would love to see you use them together in a quilt!

Lovely sheets! I was so inspired by this post that I've decided to initiate a Vintage Sheet FQ swap for Australian residents - because we don't want to miss out just because we live on the wrong side of the world!!
