The third sample quilt is built around Michael Miller's Retro Rocket Rascals print. The contrasting prints are in muted primary colors. (I was sad to part with the last of my Building Blocks rainbow ruler fabric!)
The bird applique is made from Furry Felt, which is soft and washable.
The sashing is butter colored cotton/linen and the binding is Baby Star in red from Alexander Henry. This quilt is backed in cotton chenille, which is somewhat easier to sew than Minky, since it doesn't stretch.

Oh, I love this one, too! Great idea to use furry felt.

I like the chenille backing a lot. I'm a little afraid to try minky because of the stretch. I usually just use flannel for a softer backing. Maybe I'll give this one a try though!

I have a question. When you quilt it without the back, which layer (quilt top or batting) you have on top . I mean under the machine.I never done it (quilt without backing) and I am worried about batting not moving quick enough under the sewing machine.
I know I should just try it, but I can also ask an expert.
Quilts are adorable.

That bird is so cute...not tried minky yet cause it is so expensive. Glad to hear you used chenille for this one. Have a bedspread that I grabbed at a yard sale for $5.00 great condition and on top of it all its QUEEN...Yippe.

I really like that cotton chenille on the back. I looked for this at JoAnns a couple days ago, but couldn't find it. Cute birdy too!

Awww, don't be sad, your quilts are rad. Oooh I rhymed. Maybe this will cure your tape measure fabric blues....I found, through doing a search on quiltshops.com, that a few fabric stores online have that Building Blocks tape measure fabric. One, Sunshine Sewing Company has the dark rainbow and the light rainbow tape measure fabric for 8.99. They also have tape measure fabric in red, in blue, and yellow. Big Horn Quilts.com has it for 7.50. I have no experience from buying from those two companies but hopefully they will be ok for you if you choose to buy from them.
