That's what I had for dinner. The pain medicine I'm taking for my leg has completely taken away my appetite, but I have to eat something, so I had saltines and lemonade. When I wasn't enjoying a well-balanced meal, I was starting a new quilt.
I've seen a lot of great zig-zag quilts around lately and decided I wanted to try it out. I'm sort of using the directions from A Quilt Is Nice, which were based on the directions from The Purl Bee. I'm using vintage sheets and one stripe of natural linen.
At this point, I've got the 120 - 5" squares sewn together, cut and pressed into 120 squares made of two pieced triangles. The next step is to sew the squares together. I'm sorry about the bad lighting. I'll post better photos once I'm further along (and when it's daytime).

Oh that's going to be so pretty!!

What is this magic technique you've used to stick your quilt pieces to your wall? Felt? MAGIC?!
I must know!

Apparently your super-special diet inspires amazing creativity! I think I'll try it (without the surgery, of course).
Feel better soon : )

This quilt is beautiful, like a watercolor.
I loved, loved your paintbox quilt too.
Hope you are feeling well again soon.

I love eating saltines when I don't feel good, so I can relate to that (though not to your surgery). Hope you are feeling better!
I too love all the zig-zag quilts popping up lately - yours is really very pretty.

I love how the linen stripe looks with all those florals. Kind of scary that I can remember some of those sheets - guess I am older than I feel.

That title fits so nicely with your quilt! The linen is the Saltines, and the pink and yellow is the lemonade. Ha!

The quilt is so pretty! And is your wall-board felt or flannel? I always thought they were felt, but then I saw last week that flannel was used by some. I'd love to make a wall like that for myself.

oh, I so like this idea! Something I could try with those vintage sheets you have inspired me to collect!

This is so pretty! I've got a stack of fat quarters from my vintage sheet swap and now the ideas are swarming in my head.

So funny... Today I was miserable too and was working on the same exact quilt, mine has 6" square and the fabric is from Recess. I'll post some pics this week. I love how fast the blocks are made, but feel tired just looking at the row needing sewing ;(

Love this zig-zag pattern. Love those old florals.
I hope your leg feels better soon and your appetite comes back too!

I prefer the saltine and 7-Up diet myself.
However, if Saltines and 7-up are all I can muster appetite wise, I could not also pull off a quilt!
You have amazing stamina!

Oh I love this! I might have to borrow this lovely idea for my stack of vintage sheets. The linen in it is fantastic.

Yes please share how or what it is that you are using to hand your quilt in progress. I would love to talk my husband into doing this for me. How many yards would I need?
