Spacegirl & Robots
A while ago I made my nephew, Elliot, a Spaceboy softie using Hillary Lang's pattern. He's been wanting a Robot friend for Spaceboy, so I made him one this weekend.
This is Elliot's Robot.
I also made myself a Robot and Spacegirl, just for fun. This was a great way to use up odd, large buttons. I also learned that, when making softies, the quality of the fiberfill makes a BIG difference. I had a bag of "premium" poly fill on hand, but had to buy an additional bag to finish all three softies. Because it was on sale, I bought the bargain brand fiberfill, which was a mistake. It took much longer to stuff with and the results were a lot more lumpy.
I'm not really experienced with making softies and I can see a bunch of places where there's room for improvement. (For instance, I placed Spacegirl's arms way too low.) All in all though, it was a fun little project and will hopefully help my next softie project to come out even better.

Hey they are so cute! I love spacegirl's eyelashes. Robot looks like he's not quite sure about spacegirl - she's *touching* his arm! I'm sure I could benefit from a stuffing your softie course - it is so much trickier than I realised! regards, lily

I've had the same pattern hanging around my craft space for the longest time!
Maybe your great results (they look fab- regardless of how much softie experience you have) will give me the impetus I need to get on and make them up.

Good filling is ABSOLUTELY crucial! I learned that one years ago, after making a huge batch of stuffies, and using the wrong stuffing. Ugh! lol

I love the spacegirl! I have to buy that pattern now; I kept going back and forth about it and now seeing how cute you interpreted the pattern I need to make a spacegirl!

Aww...Spacegirl is the cutest thing! The star fabric is perfect, and the face is very expressive. I think I couldn't ever be a softie maker since the faces on my stuff always comes out weird or creepy or just plain wrong. Well done!

Oh, my aunt was just reminding me how I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a girl, and how many nights I spent in the backyard with my telescope.... Your little spacegirl is precious. It's been a long time since I wanted a toy JUST FOR ME, but I want that one!! Lovely job, like with everything you do...

Me parecen geniales spaceboy y robot. ¿Compartirias conmigo los patrones? No tengo posibilidad de comprarlos. Si me dices que no, lo comprenderé. Muchas gracias.
