Frequently Asked Questions

SEWING MACHINES

What kind of sewing machine machine do you use?

I piece and quilt on a Janome 1600p, a semi-industrial, high-speed, straight stitch machine. I also have a Janome 6600p for projects that require multiple stitches.

Do you use a longarm?

No. Unless otherwise noted, everything you see here was quilted by me, using my Janome 1600p.

I'm having trouble with my 1600p. Can you help?

Unfortunately, no. I'm not a machine tech and, without seeing your machine, it's hard for me to tell what's going on. I recommend that you ask the person who services your machine. He or she should be able to help.

WHOLESALE

Can I buy your patterns to sell in my quilt shop?

Most definitely! Please refer to my Wholesale Page for more information.

I've ordered print patterns from a distributor, but need an advance copy to make a shop sample. What can I do?

Please contact me. I would be happy to send you a copy of the pdf version of the pattern.

Where can I find pattern cover images for my shop?

They're all available on my Wholesale Page.

Do you do wholesale sales of pdf patterns?

No. Pdf patterns are only available in my own shop.

I sell the original Fancy Fox and Hazel Hedgehog patterns in my shop. How can I get the glasses for those patterns?

Please contact me! I would be happy to provide a printable file for your to use in your brick and mortar shop.

PDF PATTERNS

May I sell products made with your patterns?

Please refer to my Terms and Conditions. All of my patterns and projects are intended for non-commercial use only. They are not intended for making items to sell. In the interest of being fair to everyone, I do not make exceptions to this policy.

If I buy a pattern in your pdf pattern shop, can you send me a hard copy instead?

My shop only sells pdf (electronic) files, but I can direct you to this fabulous list of stockists of my print patterns, many of whom sell online.

I bought a pdf pattern, but haven't received it. What happened?

I'm so sorry that happened! If payment was completed, you should have received an email (separate from your payment confirmation) with a link to download the pattern. If you haven't seen that email, one of the following things may have happened:

  • The message may have gone to your spam folder.
  • If you used PayPal, the pattern link was sent to the email associated with your PayPal account. If that account's email is out of date, you may be looking for the pattern in the wrong mailbox.
  • You may have mistyped your email address during checkout.
  • If you share an email account with someone else, that person may have deleted the message.
  • If you paid with an e-check, the system will wait until payment has cleared before sending the link.

If you still can't find the pattern, please contact me, and we'll figure out what happened.

I'm having trouble opening or printing my pdf pattern. What should I do?

Please make sure that you have the most current version of Adobe Reader, and that your computer isn't trying to open the file using other software. If you're still having trouble, please contact me, and we'll figure out what happened.

Why do I only get three opportunities to download my pdf patterns? My links are expired!

Limiting the number of download opportunities is a safeguard against unauthorized distribution. I'm sorry if it's frustrating. Sometimes, computers aren't set up to automatically open downloaded files and it can be easy to download something multiple times without realizing it. If this happens to you, you may be able to find the file by looking in your Downloads folder, or by searching for the name of the pattern (e.g. Fancy Fox) on your computer. If you still can't find the file, please contact me for a new link.

GENERAL

I can't find a past project. Where is it?

In the interest of keeping my project selection fresh, I will occasionally retire past projects. Once a project is retired, it is no longer available. If you were looking for one of these projects, I hope you can find something you might like just as well in my selection of current projects!

Do you do teaching/speaking engagements for guilds?

I truly appreciate your interest, but my schedule is currently full through 2016 and I am not scheduling beyond that.

Can you tell me how to become an author or fabric designer?

If you're interested in writing a book or designing fabric, I recommend checking out the websites of the manufacturers and/or publishers you think you might like to approach. Most of them have proposal guidelines posted on their websites. Good luck!

Can I get email notifications when you have a new blog post?

Please sign up for my newsletter. It will keep you up to date on all the latest news and projects.
